Quick DipsElectronic Resource GuideScience teachers' lives will be made easier by the development of an electronic database containing information on the diverse range of resources relating to technology and science currently scattered across New Zealand. "We aim to provide a single pathway for teachers and schools seeking resources in technology and science" says Dr Brenda Leeuwenberg, editor of The Resource Guide. As well as science resources, the Guide will house resource information relating to material technology, information technology, electronics and control, biotechnology, process technology, design and graphics, and food technology. Users will be able to enter a keyword (for example "electricity") and receive a list of providers of resources related to that topic, with a brief description of the resource, its format and price, a series of key words, the curriculum level to which it is suited and a contact for more information. Soon The Resource Guide will be housed on an on-line server where it can be accessed and downloaded by users, where relevant teacher feedback can also accompany each resource entry. It will also be distributed on disc to schools early next year. If your organisation has any resources (electronic, video or print) which are relevant to technology and science education, and you would like to have a description of these housed in the guide, contact: Brenda Leeuwenberg |
