Quick DipsDry DelightsCollaboration between HortResearch and ECNZ have built a prototype drying unit which is environmentally friendly and uses only about a third of the energy of conventional dryers. It can test-dry a diverse range of products from fish and deer velvet to moss, ceramics and pharmaceuticals. "By drying at low temperature, we maintain food quality and we don't need to use preservatives to maintain colour," says HortResearch scientist Conrad Perera. |
