Quick DipsNumbered Days?By the end of this decade, New Zealanders will be given a lifelong personal telephone number from birth, according to Dr Peter Troughton, managing director of Telecom. Advanced telecommunications systems using intelligent computers and digital networks could locate a wrist-telephone anywhere in the world. Privacy concerns aren't a particular worry to Dr Troughton. He sees these protected by a new range of Telecom services, including monitoring of in-coming calls and open lines to designated numbers only. |
