Amoebic Monster

David Peacock

Hello! My name is Amoebic Meningitis. I'm a microscopic unicellular protozoan from the order Amoebida. You'll find me eating anything decaying, mainly in thermal water, because it's nice and warm and I can live for ages in it.

I move around using the most primitive form of mobility known to man -- I grow pseudopodia, or "false feet", so I can move where I please.

For me to become full meningitis I have to go through three different stages. The only way to get rid of me is to kill me with chemotherapeutic and antibiotic agents within the first two stages or you're a goner!

All Highly Commended entries received a copy of Magic Eye III from Penguin Books. Congratulations.
