DiscoveryRight StuffFive students with the "right stuff" -- a commitment to science and good communication skills -- have received Bayer science scholarships to help them with tertiary studies in areas ranging from neuroscience to optometry. "Science and technology has a low profile in New Zealand and, despite high expenditure on education, unfortunately science and related subjects fare poorly," notes Bayer managing director David Hope-Cross. "We want to support and foster science students who will play a very important role in the future economy." The chemical and pharmaceutical company will provide each student with $1,750 per year for the duration of their tertiary studies; it is the fifth year Bayer has made such awards. |
