DiscoverySustainability on the Webhttp://www.maf.govt.nz/MAFnet/schools/index.html This site looks at, among other things, a plentiful source of free energy for powering small aeroplanes. The flypower site is worth looking at for fly facts as well as the latest research on what makes these insects such good fliers. http://www.ran.org/ran/kids_action/ The Rainforest Action Network has a special Kids Corner page with information, contests and, if you have QuickTime for Windows installed on your computer, video clips. This clear and colourful site is well worth a look. http://www.schoolnet.ca/vp/learning/ Learning for a Sustainable Future is a Canadian non-profit organisation working with educators to integrate the concepts of sustainable development into the curricula. It provides classroom resources and background information. Check out /documents/cities for useful information on ecological cities and sustainable urban environments. http://www.covis.nwu.edu/Geosciences/projects/GLOBAL_WARMING_2/GW_summary_all.html The Global Warming curriculum is designed to create a motivating context for learning about global climate change by using a scientific controversy with significant social implications. This URL will take you to the Global Warming Project summary page giving details of the updated 1998 project; although still in development, this is a usable classroom resource. |
