BIOLOGY 7 NEW SYLLABUS WRITE-ON NOTES by Meg Bayley; Longman, 1999; 148 pp; $12.95

Reviewed by Judith Sidaway

Write-on Notes - Biology is based on Meg Bayley's textbook Designs of Life but is modified for the new syllabus. For instance, the section on contemporary techniques in molecular biology or biotechnology is more than adequately covered. As in the textbook, self-checks for students to practice definitions and problems are included.

The publication is designed to be used in class so that students don't need to spend hours "making notes" but can highlight the main points of the text or jot down some extra points on the right side of the page.

Not all teachers may care to use it in the classroom but may recommend that the notes and self-checks be used at home for catching up work missed or studying for topic tests. Students like using Write-on Notes and think that it gives value for money.
