Environmental Database

The Department of Statistics is pulling together all existing sources of data concerning the environment into the first inventory of its type. Over 240 entries demonstrate the huge range of sources and types of information available on the environment, including the atmosphere, energy, fauna, human settlement, marine and land studies, and waste.

Len Cook, government statistician, is welcoming comments on the usefulness of the inventory and suggestions for improvements. The Department is also keen to find new or additional sources of environment-related statistics that could be added to the database.
