Disappearing Pilots

I would be grateful if your readers could indicate where I may find information on the incident outlined below. I have a query from overseas.

On August 23 1955, around 11 am, a single-engined aircraft with a John Warren as instructor, and a certain Mr Toller as trainee, took off for a training flight from Auckland airport. The aircraft supposedly remained suspended in mid air within sight of the airport for a few minutes. After about five minutes, the aircraft landed normally without either the instructor or the passenger on board. Needless to say, neither of the two men were seen again. The incident is ascribed to UFO activity.

Some suggestions for reliable information sources:

  • the Police (missing persons)
  • Civil Aviation
  • Auckland Airport authority
  • local newspapers
  • Such an incident would undoubtedly be recorded by one, if not all these organisations, assuming it did, in fact, happen...
