The southern hemi-sphere's first Chair in Animal Welfare Science has been established at Massey University. Professor David Mellor, of the university's Veterinary Faculty, said improved animal welfare awareness, knowledge and practices would benefit New Zealand's farming reputation and help our trade and political representatives in sensitive markets like the European Community.
