Over The HorizonExpat HonouredExpatriate New Zealander Professor David Stevenson has received one of the world's top scientific honours, being elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of London. "Professor Stevenson is probably the leading authority on the general question of the origin and nature of the solar system," says Dr Ian Axford, chairman of the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology. "His great strength is that he is one of the rare geophysicists who has a through understanding of physics." Stevenson is chairman of the Division of Geological and Planetary Sciences at the prestigious California Institute of Technology (Caltech). He visits his home country regularly, lecturing last year at his alma mater, Victoria University. |
