Paul Pownall, from Nayland College in Stoke, is the first science teacher to be selected for the ICI-sponsored Partnership in Education programme. Pownall will spend four weeks at ICI Crop Care, learning about science and technology in industry, and preparing resource material with links to the school science curriculum.

ICI New Zealand is also offering six Earthwatch Environmental Fellowships, three for employees and three for science teachers. The participants will take part in Earthwatch research expeditions studying Pacific basin volcanoes in Egmont National Park and sea birds off Kaikoura.
