Quick DipsRadio ControlChristchurch's newest radio station, MORE FM, is using an innovative software package to automate almost all functions. The Airwaves Cartless Studio System, designed by software engineer Matthew Reid, combines everything from management and administration to commercial production and programme scheduling. Sales staff enter all contractual information, production personnel record commercials digitally and store them in the computer, and studio anouncers can call up the recordings using a simple eight-button keyboard. A standard computer system is teamed up with a high-capacity hard disk drive to store all the information. "About 18 months ago, I began looking at digital recording to totally computerise the radio station," says Reid. Station staff are enthusiastic about the new system and interest from overseas has been strong. |
