Under The Microscope

A PRACTICE BOOK FOR
BURSARY PHYSICS, by Trevor Castle; Heinemann Education, 1994; 192 pages; $24.95

The title is an appropriate description of this booklet of bursary standard questions, and there is little doubt that it will prove to be a very useful companion to any Form 7 Physics text.

The book's use for teachers setting homework or study questions is obvious, as all questions are appropriate and relevant. Students who derive security from devouring as many questions as possible before the exam will relish this source. Not only does it deliver a good range of questions on each topic, but it also provides the solutions, with the reasons in the case of difficult multi-choice questions and full steps for the worked solutions.

The book is written for the current course and covers it well, groups the questions in topics, questions at the appropriate level, and provides solutions for students to work through. The inclusion of the marking schedules is a commendable innovation, as it allows students to work independently.

At its current price, it is good buying and teachers will welcome its arrival on the market.
