Breast Screening Problems

It was interesting to see the arguments in your piece on breast cancer screening [Mammography -- to screen or not?, October] over whether breast cancer screening was useful for women in their 40s.

I have seen lots of ads recently about screening, but I don't think that the issues which were raised by your writer have been adressed in any useful fashion elsewhere.

This is a really important issue for many women, but we don't have the information we need. It's OK if you've got good medical contacts, but this sort of stuff needs to be discussed in the newspapers and on TV so that most women get a chance to hear about it.
